About the post–

POST is recruiting for a .NET Developer to work for our client who is one of the leading branding companies in the UK. They are also a Microsoft Gold partner so have technology at the forefront of everything they do and are always working with or trialling the next latest and greatest tech.  They draw on a combination of decades working with big-name brands and retailers, plus strong commercial and market insight, to continually innovate, helping their clients achieve their goals.

As a .NET Developer, you will be an active participant in helping the team meet their sprint deliverables. You will do this by working with Business Analysts, developers and technical architects to develop and build solutions, migrate existing products to new platforms and customise their products for client-specific needs. This will involve understanding requirements, questioning assumptions and solving problems to ensure that the code written meets the specification whilst adhering to coding standards.

Some responsibilities will include:

  • High-quality code achieving the needs of the requirements
  • Estimates for new work based on the information given around the requirements
  • Work with QA and UI/UX teams to insure a consistent look, feel and quality of the system
  • Adherence to coding standards and high-quality code
  • A willingness to question requirements and ensure that what’s being delivered is fit for purpose & consistent with the rest of the system
  • Fixes to existing bugs, either raised internally, by clients or noticed in day to day work
  • A focus on security and system permissions to minimise risks of bugs in new code
  • A positive attitude & team mentality
  • Regular updates of progress and any potential impacts to the deadline

What we need from you–

  • You will have a strong focus on quality and a desire to better the product in everything you do with the endeavour to learn about the company/client’s requirements & ways of working in order to understand the rationale behind new functionality and change requests.
  • You will have a desire to work in a team environment and be able to recognise your shortcomings and other team members strengths and be willing to engage with other members of the team to strengthen your abilities and to help out other team members with your knowledge.
  • You will have the ability to manage your time efficiently and make sure any issues are communicated back to the stakeholders as early as possible in the development process.
  • You will have an open and honest personality preferring to speak up about any issues so they can be addressed as soon as possible.

It is desirable that you have

  • Recent commercial experience of developing, maintaining and releasing .NET applications in live environments
  • An understanding of cloud technologies (preferably Azure)/Microservices/.NET Core and how they’re used in modern applications
  • A desire to learn and further the knowledge of the team
  • Knowledge of design patterns
