As part of an exciting and ambitious expansion plan, the business is looking to recruit a Ruby on Rails developer to develop product & innovation validation services in a market leading Enterprise SAAS platform.

They're in the process of upgrading their architecture to handle higher volumes of data. Their client-facing web app is crucial in the delivery of the value their license holders buy in to. They need an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to lead the development of their Rails components. This is a full-time role with progressive flexible and remote working practices.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking decisions on Rails architecture and implementation, working closely with front-end web, report data caching & mobile app services. You will want to make a crucial contribution to a growing microservices project.

You'll be working with a team of 4 developers and a dedicated QA. This is a key role in the company, working alongside the Director of Product and the full development team in the continual improvement of the platform. There are clear opportunities for both career and personal progression as the business continues to grow

Responsibilities:

  • New feature design and implementation
  • Bug fixes
  • Code review
  • Maintaining and refactoring our codebase
  • Maintaining and improving the deployment pipeline
  • Maintenance and improvements to the mobile API
  • Close collaboration and remote pair programming

What we need from you–

  • Some years of experience using Rails in production
  • Strong understanding of architecture for scaling web & data services

  • Refactoring & updating legacy Rails code and infrastructure
  • Working collaboratively across a range of adjacent technologies

Beneficial traits and knowledge

  • TDD and BDD experience
  • Plenty of patience for teaching and mentoring.
  • Scientific computing, and associated infrastructure

What you’ll get–
